Location

Publishing in the UK is concentrated in London and the south-east, and if you don't live in the area, the unfortunate truth is that you may well have to relocate, especially if you want to work in trade publishing.

Academic publishers are a little more widely distributed across the country (helped by the existence of university presses in a number of major cities), although again, the south-east is over-represented, with a significant number in the Oxford area.
